Why design with standards? Simple, to reach a wider audience without sacrificing design elements.
Utilizing standards does not mean sacrificing creative designs. Through the use of cascading style sheets and XHTML standards based designs is possible from the simplest to the most complex designs. Many corporations are looking to accessibility standards to reach the widest audience possible. The ability to bring information to anyone with an internet connection is perhaps one of the greatest inventions of our time.
The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative has published an article entitled "Developing a Web Accessibility Business Case for Your Organization" on their website. Whether you are trying to introduce accessibility standards to your organization or you are building accessible pages, this article is a must read.
Greater than 20 percent of all internet users have some form of vision impairment. Whether it be blindness, color blindness or just far sighted, developing a page to address these needs is essential to the success of any business.
